I was talking to Gimmeabreakman from Youtube today for completely different reasons other than this post, which has all to do with music. Well, it kind of has something to do with something, because Gimmeabreakman told me about this guy, and it turns out he was giving away free music just for subscribing to him. I didn’t know about this, so I was surprised to get a message saying “hey, want a free CD of our music?” on my Tofugu YouTube page. I’m not one to pass up free things, so I went for it.

I have a really weird taste in music, so I didn’t expect to enjoy it, but as it turns out, I really like it (not that the music is weird…it seems pretty normal-awesome as far as I can tell). So, basically what I’m saying is that if you go subscribe to fatblueman, you’ll get to listen to this music to. Go do it and tell me what you think! I like it!

In other completely unrelated news, one of my Japanese students, who is actually a Godzilla Expert (no joke…sounds like a dream job) sent me this image, to which I had a good laugh. The funny things people do on the Internet, eh?

Now, I’m not trying to get political or anything here. If Obama was making a grab at McCain’s ass, I would post it up too. Out of context pictures are the greatest, though, aren’t they? And boy, this deserves a good caption…but I can’t think of anything to do it enough justice.

All he was really doing was trying to figure out which way to go to get around the desk and shake the moderator’s hand. You know like how when you’re walking down the hall, and someone is walking straight at you, and then you both try to go one way, then the other, and then you make a weird face and grab someone’s butt? It’s just like that.

Oh, also, I’ve enjoyed this too many times. That’s right! I support Sarah Palin as President! (make sure you open the door on the left side three times).

There was this lady who did the keynote address…I don’t know who she is, but apparently she’s pretty famous. All I know is that she called herself the fairy blog-mother (and normally doesn’t dress like this for these sorts of things). She’s a pretty cool frood, though I’m not sure she knows where her towel’s at.

I’ll post a few more times on Wordcamp as it goes along. I love a place that encourages you to blog while listening to people talk about blogging :)

This is the greatest website in the world (though, sometimes it’s a bit glitchy). It allows you to upload a picture of yourself and tell it where your face is. Then, when you’re ready, you tell it to generate your pictures. From there, you can choose the year and it will give you a picture. Not all of them work perfectly, and some of them look darn-right ugly, but a lot of them turn out fairly good. The ones above are my favorites. In 1996, that’s what I actually looked like. Sad, yeah? Kind of makes me want to grow an afro.

There’s a men’s and women’s category, so everyone can get in on the action! I don’t know what the women’s ones look like, but you should share with us in the comments if you try it out! That goes for the boys too, of course. Haha, this website seems like the type of thing my parents would like.

I thought I’d try it out with a celebrity. Tom Cruise worked out pretty well.

Once again, the website is here. You might need to try more than once - I think they’re getting heavy traffic and it’s causing things to get funny. Didn’t work my first time, but by the second time it went fairly smoothly and actually generated my results.

I’ve been playing around with “Google Insights,” a sweet Google page that lets you see what people are searching for all around the World. Now, you can find out what people are searching for by geo-location. How awesome is that? I’m sure you can already see the potential for fun.

Now, just in case, no offense was meant to anyone. This video was just for fun, and hopefully it isn’t taken toooo seriously.

Gosh, they did it again. I’ve been featured three times on Youtube, all three of the times on my Koichiben account (why no Tofugu love?). Now, normally I’d be really happy about this, but somehow, they’ve managed to feature my two worst videos (yes, two, more information coming) three times. The first features wasn’t that bad, I guess. It was my “Godzilla’s New Life” video, the original.The second time was only a month or so later, and it was one of the first videos featured on Youtube Japan, being the one where I compare American and Japanese McDonalds. Now, I hate this video. Absolutely hate it. I have a terrible accent in it, make a lot of mistakes, and all in all it is full of terrible content. By far, worst of all my videos. Now, about a year later, they feature it a second time. What? Why couldn’t they feature one of my more recent ones? “Japanese stereotypes as seen by Americans” would have been a fun one, I think. Really, anything but this. I just find it strange that they feature the same video twice. I suppose it did pull a lot of traffic this way, so much so that it knocked down all of the sites on my server, haha. Not necessarily a good thing. I’m going to have to start looking into more reliable hosting options.

So anyways, just a little peeved that Youtube would do this to me (again!). I know, it’s kind of a blessing, but it’s also a bit of a burden. I’ve found that it’s easier not to read the comments. I get so many angry emails for this video, mostly from people who don’t understand Japanese and like to make a lot of assumptions. On the other hand, I do get a lot of nice emails from Japanese people, which is great. One of them was from the mother of a four-year-old, who wanted to tell me her tiny little daughter said “I love Koichi!” Cute! I suppose I’ll have to try and keep my videos young-age friendly so I don’t ruin any young lives 0_0

On another note, I’ve got a job interview with the Oregon State Lottery this Tuesday for a “website assistant” position. They are a surprisingly hip (and different) group considering they’re a government agency, so I’m excited to interview. Seems like a pretty neat place to work and full of cool froods who know where their towel’s at.
